Privacy Policy — Barom Calendar

This Privacy Policy explains how Barom Kagyu ("we", "us", "our") handles information in the Barom Calendar mobile application (the "App") for iOS and Android. It applies to the App as distributed on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

1. Summary

• You do not need an account to use the App, and the App has no sign-up or login.
• We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, or device identifiers.
• The App contains no advertising, analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting tools.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone.
• Your settings and preferences stay on your device.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal information

We do not collect personal information. The App gives you no way to submit personal information to us, and we do not request it.

2.2 Information stored only on your device

To work offline and remember your choices, the App stores the following locally on your device:

• A cached copy of public calendar dates, community listings, and teaching schedules downloaded from our servers.
• Your App preferences, such as language and reminder or notification settings.

This information never leaves your device and is not sent to us.

2.3 Technical information processed when content is downloaded

When the App downloads public content (calendar updates, community listings, online teachings, and app version information), your device connects to our hosting provider over the internet. Like any internet service, the provider automatically receives standard technical information needed for that connection, such as your IP address, the time of the request, and basic request details.

We use this information only to deliver content and to keep the service secure and reliable. We do not use it to identify you, build a profile of you, or track you across apps or websites.

The App also reads your device's operating system type and version on the device. It uses them to check whether an App update is available and to open the correct app store.

3. How We Use Information

We use the limited information described above only to:

• Provide and update the calendar, community, and teachings content in the App.
• Let you know when a new or required App version is available.
• Keep the service secure, reliable, and free of abuse.

We do not use information for advertising, marketing, or profiling.

4. Sharing and Third-Party Service Providers

We do not sell, trade, or rent user data.

The App uses the following service provider to host and deliver its public content:

Supabase processes the technical connection information described in Section 2.3 on our behalf.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal request from a government authority. If Barom Kagyu is involved in a merger or reorganization, we will notify users before any information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Background Content Sync

To keep the calendar up to date, the App may refresh public content in the background from time to time, using the standard background-task features of iOS and Android. This refresh only downloads public content. It does not collect or upload any personal information.

6. Device Permissions

The App only needs internet access to download public content.

The App does not access your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files, SMS, call logs, or the device calendar.

If you enable reminders, any notifications are scheduled locally on your device. Your operating system may ask for permission to show them, and you can change this at any time in your device settings.

7. Links to Third-Party Websites and Services

The App may contain links to third-party websites and services, such as community center websites, email or phone contacts, online teaching platforms (for example, video meeting services), and YouTube. When you tap one of these links, it opens in another app or browser outside our App.

We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review the privacy policy of each service you visit.

8. Data Security

All communication between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS (TLS). Content downloaded by the App is public, read-only information. Data stored on your device is protected by your operating system's app sandbox.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the service.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

• On your device: All locally stored data (cached content and preferences) is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear the App's data in your device settings.
• Accounts: The App has no user accounts, so there is no account or account data to delete.
• Server logs: Technical connection logs held by our hosting provider are kept only for a limited period, for security and operational purposes, under the provider's standard retention practices. They are then deleted automatically.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is suitable for general audiences, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live (for example, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to processing. Because we do not collect personal data that identifies you, there is usually no personal data for us to provide or delete. You may still contact us at any time with a privacy question or request, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new features. When we do, we will post the updated policy at this page and change the "Last updated" date above. If we make significant changes, such as starting to collect new types of data, we will let you know in the App or in its store listing.
